Below is a list of some educational resources that I have gathered during my Field Experiences so far. As I continue to build my experience in the education field I will continue to add to this list to share resources that I have benefited from to all other educators.

Youtube Video: Consent For Kids

This video is a great, simple tool for educators to use when introducing the concept of consent to young students. The video uses simple language and images to teach students how to practice consent. While watching this video, it is helpful to ask students to demonstrate examples of how to practice consent as it allows students to be engaged while deepening their understanding of the concept.

Zen Shorts by Jon J Muth

Zen shorts is a children's book that shares traditional Buddhist stories that teach readers about love, selflessness, and learning different perspectives. The stories are great for young students to learn as the messages all carry into essential aspects of everyday life. I used this book in my lesson about writing postcards. To read the parts of the story narrated by the main character, Stillwater, I used a puppet to make the story even more engaging. This book was a great pairing with the lesson plan, but it is also great to use on its own with its very special messages.

Kind by Axel Scheffer

This book was the inspiration for my activity on kindness in the classroom. The book Kind shares the many ways people can be kind every day. The book also includes incredible illustrations from over 20 authors making the book even more special. I liked this book for its simple examples of different acts of kindness. One example the book provided was creating a kindness jar and together as a class, we made our own to promote a kinder classroom!

Google Slides: How to Make a Postcard to Stillwater

I used Google Slides to create a visual presentation to support students when giving them instructions for my learning plan. There are images of postcards, written instructions, and text boxes for me to write students' thoughts and ideas on how to create a postcard in the slideshow. While students were working, I left the images on the board for students to reference, and I also provided students with photos from the book to use as inspiration for the pictures they would create for their postcards.

Youtube: Relaxing Music

I used this YouTube video to play relaxing music while students quietly worked on projects individually. The music helped students stay focused on their tasks, and they were less likely to talk and distract each other when they were listening. It was also very calming for the teachers in the room, which is a bonus!
